Topic Description:  Remarkable Leadership

So much is written about leadership and so little is understood.  Even worse, what is known about great leadership is rarely enacted.  In the area of leadership, the gap between what we know and what people do is huge.  This is due to a large extent to the fact that the focus of research and writing about leadership is on the skills and traits of leaders and not on the deeper elements that make the biggest difference.  In this presentation, Dr. Merron shares his personal quest to understand the essential ingredients that make up great leadership and invites participates to get to the heart of what matters.  Keith highlights the three most important factors that define great leadership and differentiate great leaders from the rest of the pack.  Through discovering these factors and articulating them in an engaging, thought provoking way, this talk will not only tantalize our thoughts, it will invite you to connect to the great leader within.  The information will be shared in a way that explores the implications for OD consultants as they work with leaders of all kinds. We will also explore the implications for hiring, training, and coaching.  Keith’s presentation is based on in depth interviews he conducted with dozens of remarkable leaders throughout North America to get at the heart and soul of what extraordinary leadership is all about.  This research forms the basis of his book called  “The Golden Flame – The Heart and Soul of Remarkable Leadership.”.

Bio:  Keith Merron, Founder, Avista Consulting Group

Keith Merron is one of the country’s leading experts in the area of leadership, organizational culture, and change (see bio attached).  As a doctoral student at Harvard University 25 years ago, he was on the ground floor of some of the seminal research upon which our current knowledge of organizational culture is based.  In addition, his research on the relationship between ego maturity, leadership, and organizational effectiveness helped form the basis of a new theory of organizational and societal change called Spiral Dynamics, elucidated in Ken Wilber’s ground breaking treatise, A Theory of Everything. At his core, Keith is an organizational consultant, committed to helping organizations become leaders in their industry. He has practiced his trade for over 25 years, having more experience in helping organizations develop vision, leadership, culture and change than almost any consultant in the world.  Based on this experience, he founded Avista Consulting Group, a growing leader in the organizational consulting arena.
